Artist FAQ
APPLICATIONS

What type of artist can apply?
We welcome a variety of artists who create original work. With mediums including watercolour, oil, acrylic, alcohol ink, encaustic, fibre, photography, drawing, glass, printmaking etc. We also believe art doesn’t just hang on the wall, so we also display glasswork, stone carving, wood carving, ceramics, sculpture etc.

How are artists chosen?
Each applying artist is juried by our board members, who are fellow working artists. We are looking for skill, creativity, potential, and most importantly original work.

I submitted my application, how do I know if I was accepted?
You will be emailed August 31, 2026 if we have accepted your application. At that time, we will ask you to pay for your booth by September 30, 2026 to reserve your spot. Please make sure you enter the correct email address into your application and check your spam folder if you have not heard from us.

If I displayed in 2026, am I automatically juried in for the 2027 show?
No, acceptance is on a year-by-year basis. You must reapply for each event and be juried in. This is done to ensure equitable access.

How should I prepare and submit images for the jury process?
To ensure a fair and professional jury process, all submitted images must meet the following standards:
  • Images must show only the artwork. Crop out all unnecessary background or surrounding elements.
  • Artwork must be photographed straight on. Angled or distorted images are not permitted.
  • Frames, mats, easels, watermarks, studio settings, or room interiors must not be visible unless submitting 3D work where the environment is necessary to show scale or form.
  • Images should accurately represent the artwork, including colour, contrast, texture, and detail. Excessive filters or digital alterations are not permitted.
  • Photographs must be clear, in focus, and high quality so jurors can properly evaluate the work.
  • The artwork submitted in images must be the original work of the artist and representative of the work that will be exhibited at the fair.
  • If accepted into the fair, submitted images may be used by the fair for marketing, promotional, educational, and social media purposes. Artist credit will be included whenever possible.
Failure to follow these guidelines may affect the jurying process or result in disqualification.

Do I need to have my artwork professionally photographed?
No. Professional photography is not required, but your images should be clear, accurate, and high quality. Strong images help jurors properly evaluate your work and are also important for marketing and promotion if you are accepted into the fair.
Tips for photographing your own artwork:
  • Use natural, indirect light whenever possible. Bright overcast days or photographing near a large window often work best.
  • Avoid direct sunlight, harsh shadows, and yellow indoor lighting.
  • Photograph artwork straight on at eye level to avoid distortion.
  • Use a plain, neutral background for 3D work.
  • Make sure the image is sharp and in focus.
  • Turn off filters and avoid heavy photo editing. Colours should match the original artwork as closely as possible.
  • Crop the image so only the artwork is visible unless submitting 3D work.
  • Avoid glare and reflections, especially on varnished or framed pieces.
  • Use the highest image quality setting available on your phone or camera.
  • Double check that the artwork is not tilted before submitting.
Clear, accurate images give jurors the best representation of your work and create a more professional application.
